Academia Hippica

RETURN TO WORKS

“Academia Hipicca”, @hermes scarf in silk, 90 x 90 cm

The project is a fantastic representation of an academy of fine arts whose students are animals, but the main theme of all classes and the models itself are horses only. The Academia building is also in the shape of a horse - it is a huge glass building on heavy wheels, thanks to which students can visit various places of the world. The main inspiration for the project was my own studies and the time spent at the academy of fine arts.

The interior of the Academia is divided into sections referring to different departments in academies of fine arts around the world, such as painting, drawing, sculpture, design, graphic arts, fashion, photography, ceramic, art history, lithography, typesetting. Art classes are also conducted outdoors, around the academy itself. Here we also deal with traditional techniques in en plein air, as painting (or even water-painting), but most of the activities carried out are invented: such as arranging flowers and fruits, large scale origami, or different types of dance performance.

All students of the Academia are animals, actually existing or inspired by real living beings. All animals behave in a human way, running to particular classes, drawing, painting, sleeping, eating, or simply scrolling on the phone. Sometimes student life is tough, a painting board might fall on someone's head, or another person might be running with a sketchbook under their arm, late for class.

The landscape in the background stretches from the sea to the mountains, where even Mount Fuji produces a colorfull cloud, right next to Mont-Blanc.
