Giorgione's "The Tempest" is one of the most famous works in the history of art. The painting is as mysterious as its author: we know little about the Giorgione himself, but we know first owner of the painting quite well. It was Gabriele Vendramin, the owner of one of the largest art collections of the first half of the 16th century, who described “The Tempest” as "serving to rest and relief for the soul".
