Series of paintings inspired by clay bull's-heads from Knossos in Heraklion Archaeological Museum
in Crete, 2017
The bull motif appears very often in Greek iconography. Due to their strength (both physical and vital), bulls were worshiped in many places and were also an important element of sacrifice. The bull heads come from the series "Minotaurs", which alludes to my fascination with the myth of Theseus. The combination of a man and a bull, on the one hand a cursed being, on the other extremely strong, is a good reflection of human nature.
